Whole-home or selected-load backup
Start with the appliances and systems you want available during an outage. Air conditioning, refrigeration, pumps and other motor loads influence generator sizing and load-management needs.
Whole-home describes the intended coverage, not unlimited power. Equipment capacity, starting demand and the final control strategy determine what can run together.
A permanent system needs a site plan
We review the electrical service, proposed generator location, required clearances, equipment access and fuel supply arrangements. Manufacturer instructions, local requirements and site conditions guide the installation.

AUTOMATIC TRANSFER & ELECTRICAL INTEGRATION
The connection matters as much as the generator.
- Compatible automatic transfer switch installation.
- Service-entrance integration and supported-load planning.
- Panel or service upgrades where the project requires them.
- Electrical testing, transfer checks and professional commissioning within the agreed scope.
A coordinated electrical scope
Transfer equipment must suit the generator controls, service arrangement and backup design. We coordinate utility involvement and permitting where applicable, and explain equipment responsibilities before installation.

A SECOND BACKUP APPROACH
Portable generator connections & manual backup power
Already own a portable generator, or prefer a manually operated setup? We also install appropriately rated inlet boxes, listed and compatible panel interlock kits, and manual transfer switches for supported configurations.
We evaluate the generator, panel and circuits before selecting connection equipment. A portable connection is a different scope from an automatic standby installation and requires safe generator placement and owner operation.
Portable generators must be operated outdoors, at least 20 feet from the home, with exhaust directed away from doors, windows and vents. Never operate one in a garage or connect it through a household outlet.
Generator, solar & battery integration
Backup technologies can complement one another when their controls and electrical arrangements are compatible. We assess existing solar, batteries, transfer switches and proposed generator equipment as one system before confirming a design.
Our documented Humble battery retrofit retained the homeowner’s existing Enphase solar and whole-home generator/transfer arrangement. That project demonstrates integration experience; it does not establish compatibility for every combination or promise uninterrupted operation.
Independent, manufacturer-neutral expertise
Green Gold Electric LLC is an independent electrical contractor operated by a Texas Master Electrician. Texas Electrical Contractor License TECL #41131, NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) certification and experience with generators, transfer equipment and battery storage support a complete view of your home’s electrical needs.
We have a Generac dealer/aligned contractor relationship. Equipment recommendations remain based on your electrical requirements, property, budget and supported equipment preferences—not an exclusive commitment to one brand. Warranty repair authorization is confirmed separately and is not implied by installation services.
A clear installation process
Consultation & load assessment
Share your backup priorities, service equipment and any generator model you are considering. We review the home’s demand and arrange a site assessment as needed.
Equipment & site planning
Define capacity, transfer equipment, placement and any load management. Confirm fuel supply feasibility and coordinate fuel work with appropriately licensed professionals.
Written scope & coordination
Agree equipment procurement, electrical work, pad or site preparation, permits, inspections and scheduling responsibilities before installation.
Installation & commissioning
Complete the agreed electrical installation, testing and transfer checks, then explain the system’s operating limits and homeowner responsibilities.
Greater Houston & Southeast Texas
Based in Crosby, we consider residential projects across Greater Houston, including Baytown and Humble, and throughout Southeast Texas. For locations beyond our primary operating area, availability depends on scope, travel and scheduling.

Generator installation questions
What size generator does my home need?
Sizing starts with the loads you want to support, motor starting demand, service configuration and available fuel supply—not square footage alone. We review whether load management or selected-load backup is appropriate before recommending equipment.
Does whole-home backup run everything at once?
Not necessarily. A system connected to the whole home still has a rated capacity. High-demand appliances may require load management or operating limits. We define the supported loads and limitations in the project scope.
How do automatic and manual transfer switches differ?
A compatible automatic transfer switch works with a standby generator to transfer the supported loads when utility power fails and return them when it is restored. Manual equipment requires the homeowner to follow the approved operating sequence. Standby startup and transfer take time; uninterrupted power is not promised.
Can you install an inlet or interlock for my portable generator?
We assess the generator output, panel model, inlet rating and wiring. A listed, compatible interlock kit or suitable manual transfer switch must prevent utility and generator sources from being connected together. Not every panel accepts an interlock.
What does a standby generator installation involve?
The scope can include load assessment, equipment and site planning, transfer equipment, electrical work, permits, inspections and commissioning. Fuel supply, foundation or pad work and equipment procurement responsibilities are identified in writing. Fuel work is coordinated with appropriately licensed professionals.
Can a generator work with existing solar and batteries?
Some systems can be integrated, but the equipment, controls, transfer arrangement and manufacturer requirements must be compatible. Existing solar does not automatically operate during an outage. We evaluate the complete design before confirming supported operation.
Do you install only Generac equipment?
No. Green Gold Electric is an independent electrical contractor. We have a Generac dealer/aligned contractor relationship, while recommendations depend on the home, requested scope and supported equipment. Installation experience does not imply factory-authorized warranty repair for every product.
Are financing options available?
Homeowners can explore financing through the platform identified in our financing section. The current link opens Acorn Finance and offers from its participating lenders only. Financing is subject to lender approval and terms.
Where do you install residential generators?
We serve Greater Houston and surrounding communities, including Crosby, Baytown and Humble, as well as Southeast Texas. Additional Texas projects are considered based on scope, location and scheduling.
